Pallet Enterprise: What is the best piece of business advice that you have ever received?
Davi: You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.
Pallet Enterprise: What do you think the biggest challenge will be for your company in 2022?
Davi: The biggest challenge in our industry is attracting new talent. We are one of the most sustainable industries in our country, and we are a very integral part of the supply chain. We need to stress those points to college students and trade organizations.
Pallet Enterprise: How do you think the pallet industry will have changed five to 10 years from now?
Davi: There will mostly likely be more consolidation in our industry. The pallet industry will still be a very important part of the supply chain. I don’t see how the supply chain can get away from wooden pallets. There will be more affordable technology to track pallets and to obtain more data regarding pallet location, temperature and movement.
Pallet Enterprise: How do you decide whether or not to try a new idea in your company?
Davi: I meet with my partners to gauge interest and profitability, obtain ideas and suggestions to derive a plan and budget, have an additional meeting with my partners, and then execute! The hardest part about trying a new idea is to start.
Pallet Enterprise: What is one thing you do at your company that is different from other pallet companies?
Davi: Besides being the most reliable standard pallet company in our region, we are also excellent at making reman and custom pallets. We are great at processing odd-size pallets into a size and dimensions that would fit our customer needs. One-third of our pallet sales derive from custom pallets. We enjoy visiting customers and coming up with different ideas for pallets that produce value for their company.
Pallet Enterprise: What is one of the hardest business decisions you have ever made?
Davi: The hardest business decision I ever had to make, which was a couple of weeks ago, was to sell our company. On December 27, 2021, our company was acquired by Kamps. Kamps has made the transition very easy. They are good people. We are all still active in the business and looking forward to the opportunities that a company with a national presence can give our employees and our customers.
Pallet Enterprise: What is the most important thing you do each day?
Davi: The most important thing I do in a day is to make a ‘to do’ list. I like to tell my fellow workers that the most important thing I try to do is to go home and see my family. I create my list before I start my day, and I keep attacking it until I accomplish my goals. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
