Wood-Mizer LLC, a global leading manufacturer of portable and industrial sawmills, has announced the winners of its 2014 Business Best Contest. This award recognizes Wood-Mizer sawmill owners who have demonstrated exemplary business methods.
Honey Grove Hardwoods LLC of Honey Grove, Pennsylvania, won first place in the Industrial Sawmill category for utilizing a Wood-Mizer WM4000 industrial headrig to produce grade lumber for molding, caskets, veneer and pallet cants. In addition, the company improved its overall operation efficiency and yield since installing its Wood-Mizer sawmill.
Other contest winners included: Industrial Sawmills category – Wood Castle Furniture of Oregon, second; and Westgate Urban Woods of California, third; Hydraulic Sawmills category—Timbergreen Farm of Wisconsin, first; The J Team of Massachusetts, second; North Woods of Oregon, third; and Manual Sawmills category – Family Investments Inc. of Washington, first; True South Sawmill and Woodworking of South Carolina, second; and Verdin Sawing of Louisiana, third.
“Each year we receive countless success stories from our sawmill owners,” said Dave Mann, national sales manager for Wood-Mizer. “This contest is a great way for us to share their accomplishments and recognize those who are succeeding in the marketplace with a Wood-Mizer sawmill.”
Each winning business was featured in The Wood-Mizer Way, Wood-Mizer’s exclusive customer magazine for the portable and industrial sawmill industry with a circulation of more than 35,000.
The contest, held every two years, was open to any Wood-Mizer sawmill business interested in competing for their share of $12,250 in prize credits. Entries were judged on business practices, ethics, organization and overall use of the Wood-Mizer sawmill throughout their operations.
