Dakin-Flathers, a British manufacturer of bandsaw and bandknife blades, has introduced the Ripper37 Quantum resaw blade to the pallet industry. The company’s new bandsaw blade lasts twice as long as the Lenox Woodmaster C blade and three times longer than the nearest competitor, according to Dakin-Flathers.
The Ripper37 Quantum bandsaw blade is engineered for cutting precision, efficiency, and durability for pallet manufacturing. It boasts an unprecedented blade life, eliminating the need for premature blade changes and increasing productivity, particularly on multi-head resaws.
“The exit of Lenox Woodmaster C from the market presented us with a big challenge,” said Oliver Garside, managing director of Dakin-Flathers. “We wanted to provide an alternative for the market, and specifically for Lenox customers.”
The company’s goal was a blade that would surpass the Lenox Woodmaster C in performance. “We invested huge resources into research and development, innovation, new technologies, and rapid prototyping,” said Garside. “And we succeeded!”
In independent tests, the Ripper37 Quantum lasts twice as long as the Woodmaster C and three times as long as the nearest competitor, according to Dakin-Flathers. “We have patented the new technology and the product, and really look forward to working with our partners to help them grow their sales and market share.”
The Ripper37 Quantum pallet blade is designed to withstand the toughest resawing applications. It was developed with a patent-pending manufacturing process using innovative materials and manufacturing processes. The blades are manufactured in aerospace-controlled temperature conditions using the world’s first gaseous phase control. The new heat treatment process results in exceptionally low levels of oxidization, producing a near-perfect grain structure for exceptional longevity and cutting performance.
The Ripper37 Quantum blade is currently available in 1-inch x 2 hook to cater predominantly for pallet manufacturing with multi-head resaws. It is also suitable for many other resaw applications using a 1-inch blade. Customers can order blades through an authorized global network of distributors.
Dakin-Flathers says it is the world’s largest manufacturer of carbon bandsaw blades dedicated to delivering innovative, high-performance bandsaw blades to woodworking professionals and hobbyists worldwide.
The privately owned, family-run business, which has been producing blades for over 125 years, is based in Yorkshire, England, where its manufacturing operations are conducted.
Dakin-Flathers blades are used in a wide range of industries in over 120 countries worldwide. They are used in the primary processing of timber, furniture production, engineering, food processing and foam production.
