Supplier Spotlight: Boulware Offers Turnkey Wood Waste Systems

If your company is challenged by dealing with scrap wood material, you may want to consult with Boulware Equipment.

From troubleshooting to initial install of either new or rebuilt grinders to identifying potential markets for wood residuals, Boulware Equipment offers unique expertise to the pallet and forest products industries. Brad Boulware launched his company in 2008 in Statesville, North Carolina. Boulware Equipment has done work for some well-known names in the pallet industry. This includes: PECO Pallet, CHEP, Edwards Wood Products, Pal-Serv, and Atlanta Pallets & Services.

For most of his professional life, Brad Boulware has worked in the field of wood waste. He graduated from North Carolina State University in 1986 and immediately went to work for a company that supplied dust collection systems for the wood products industry. Boulware has gone on to design, sell, and install equipment for wood grinding, pneumatic collection and conveying systems, and industrial filter systems. “Everything that has to do with handling scrap wood or reduction of scrap wood,” he said. His focus is on custom design, fabricated systems, and turnkey systems.

Boulware offers turnkey solutions for the challenge of disposing of wood waste material, including developing markets for sawdust or chipped or ground wood fiber. “There are several core competencies required to be able to do this,” said Boulware, in order to provide turnkey systems. “You need experience with wood size reduction, material handling, dust collection, and pneumatic conveying systems. Very few companies have that.”

For example, take the case of a pallet recycling company faced with the challenge of disposing of scrap wood material. The company may be spending thousands of dollars each month to dispose of the material in a landfill or some similar solution. “I can help them convert it to a usable wood fiber and provide a customer outlet for a ground wood product that is metal-free,” said Boulware. “That’s really the power of our solution.”

Boulware develops merchandising plans for wood chips and grindings throughout the United States, concentrating on the Mid-Atlantic region south to Texas. In fact, Jessica Boulware, Brad’s daughter and business manager, devotes nearly all of her time to developing markets “so when I go into an area, I can offer turnkey service.”

Boulware’s company represents Cresswood in the Southeast; in fact, Boulware Equipment is the largest dealer for the manufacturer of wood grinding equipment. When Cresswood has a customer that needs a turnkey system, they rely on Boulware.

Boulware Equipment also can supply baghouses, cyclones, fans, conveyors, and storage systems specifically designed for handling, moving and storing wood fiber in the form of dust, grindings and chips.

“We offer a one-year warranty on grinder system rebuilds,” said Boulware. “Customers have confidence with our warranty that the system will perform as expected.”
