Dallas Welker is no stranger to the sawmill industry. He and his father have ran Snakeproof Mill Saw Service in Luthersville GA for decades, repairing and sharpening blades for large band mills. But in January 2011, Welker and his partner, Liv Vignos, launched SouthEastern Metals, LLC of Woodbury, Ga.
They set out to make blades for band resaws and pallet dismantling machines using only the finest steel from Lenox, Simonds and Wood-Mizer while still managing to keep costs extremely low. SouthEastern Metal’s stated mission is to offer deep discounts every day to everyone, not just the big mills. And according to the company, the results have been nothing short of spectacular. SouthEastern Metals obtains blade coil stock from the manufacturer and turns it into finely welded blades at a rock bottom price. Working with only the top blade manufacturers (Lenox, Simonds and Wood-Mizer) SouthEastern Metals offers national service with customers from California to New York.
