Profile Technology, a manufacturer and supplier of cutting tools for the pallet industry, has developed a mascot for use in its marketing and advertising programs. The cartoon-like character is NIBS™, whose name is derived from the company’s NAILBUSTER ® brand of cutters and saw blades.
The mascot appears in the company’s new advertisement in this month’s edition of Pallet Enterprise and also made a debut appearance at Profile Technology’s exhibit at the Midwest Forest Industry Show. David Lieber, 16-year-old son of Profile Technology’s president, John Lieber, wore the NIBS costume at the company’s exhibit.
The purpose of the mascot is to help draw attention to the company’s NAILBUSTER products and also the environmental benefits of the wooden pallet industry. The industry uses a 100% renewable resource, its wood processing operations are energy efficient, and pallets are recyclable, John noted.
“I wanted to advance the positive and environmentally-friendly idea of recycled lumber along with the concept of remanufacturing pallets with recycled lumber,” said John. “Our NAILBUSTER technology has been a very visible part of that market.” The company’s NAILBUSTER saw blades, notching heads and other tools can be used to cut and process recycled lumber that contains nails.
The NIBS costume also fits John so “technically” he can wear it, but he added, “Officially, don’t hold your breath — but never say never.”
