As of Oct. 1, 2001, the European Union (EU) passed an emergency measure to prevent any pallet, crate or packaging containing softwood from entering any member nation unless the packaging is marked as Heat Treated (HT) or Kiln Dried Heat Treated (KDHT) by an authorized agency appointed by the American Lumber Standards Committee (ALSC).
Do you think you are exempt by shipping hardwoods? Think again. Hardwoods are likely to require heat treatment certification in the near future. Fumigation and CPI treatments are on the way out, also.
Are you ready for compliance? Innovative Data Systems’ Pallet Track ® products can help you become certified. Those who are processing ‘HT’ or ‘KDHT’ lumber into packaging components or assembling pallets from this material must be able to track the entire history of the product back to the time it was purchased or treated. This includes all processes in between, such as cut to length, re-saw, chamfer, notching, etc. Pallet Track provides the means for tracking this information while simultaneously tracking all other aspects of a pallet mill or sawmill.
IDS has developed new and innovative products from full featured wireless networks which conform to the new IEEE 802.11 standards to individually featured Palm™ Pilot versions to simplify the process. With a single feature Palm Pilot version starting at $695, there is a system available to fit just about any budget, and they are guaranteed to be upgradeable to larger or future systems.
