NWPCA Recognizes 25 Year Members

At its recent annual meeting, the National Wooden Pallet and Container Association recognized companies that have been members for the past 25 years. Three of the six companies that reached this milestone were there to accept awards.

The Pallet Enterprise wants to thank these six companies for supporting our industry through the past 25 years. Present to receive their awards were (left to right) Paul Gilles of Brewer, Inc., Central City, Ky., Jeff Booher of B&B Lumber Company, Jamesville, NY, and Steve Snodsmith of Madison County Wood Products, Fredericktown, Mo. Congratulations to these three fine companies for the efforts they have contributed to the success of the pallet industry and the NWPCA.

Brewer People Advance with Training and Safety

Three Brewer Inc. technicians recently completed computer-assisted drafting classes at Madisonville Community College in Madisonville, Ky. The technicians are Tony Fox, Jim Stodghill and Darren Mathis.

Tony, Jim, and Darren, part of the Brewer Golden Eagle master technician program, have been members of the Brewer team for a combined period of 40 years and are constantly striving to learn more.

In other Brewer news, the company logged 125,000 man hours in 2000 without a single lost-time accident. Company officials attributed several reasons for the exemplary safety record. Brewer practices a drug-free work environment and also has an exercise program for employees twice per week. In addition, Camilla Eades oversees a ‘total compliance’ safety program. She conducts weekly safety inspections and monthly safety meetings. “It is of special pride to me that we went all year without a lost-time accident,” she said.
