Pallet People: Biolube Founder Passes Away

Surrounded by his family, George Barker, founder of Biolube Inc., and a well-known figure in the sawmill industry passed away on May 18, 2021. George will be missed in the sawmill industry as he was the face of the Biolube booth at multiple trade shows and expos throughout the years.

Just months prior to George’s death, he and his business partner, Bob Pennycoff retired from Biolube, selling their business to Kelly Johnson and Erik Bailey, owners of DR Lubricants. For more than 20 years, DR Lubricants has helped George and Bob develop, manufacture, ship and service the Biolube line as they became the leader in the field of saw lubrication. George was involved in the development and formulation of Lubie® products. Kathy Minnich, who worked with him in marketing, remembered, “George worked closely with chemists in producing the products according to his ideas. He was a problem-solver with lots of street smarts. He would talk to sawmill operators to find out what they needed. He was very intelligent and hands-on with production.”

Lubie®, a federally registered trademark of Biolube, offers trouble-free Lubie® spray application equipment and proven saw lubricants, moulder bed lubricants, grinding coolants, pitch cleaners and other specialty products. All products are covered by a 100% satisfaction guarantee, distributed nationwide by distributors who know the woodworking industry and work with you to improve your mill’s efficiency.
