Two is usually better than one. That is the case with a new equipment design modification from Pallet Chief Manufacturing. The machinery manufacturer has modified its popular Pallet Chief III model, which is intended for the production of oversized pallets. This new design features dual production capabilities where two nailing stations are situated side-by-side. This reduces wasted motion by the operator and boosts production efficiency. This new approach allows one operator to produce 300-400+ pallets in a single shift while using the dual system approach.
“The benefit of this design is that one operator can run both of those stations,” explained Vern Ogle of Pallet Chief. “The operator lays boards down for both stations, and the nail gantry nails both pallets at once. The pallet is flipped over, and the other side of both pallets is nailed. Both pallets exit and are stacked simultaneously. The efficiency savings comes because the gantry nails two pallets at once.”
This modified PC III is ideal for assembling oversized pallets. The maximum size for this current model is 72″ long by 48’ wide. The minimum is 38″ long by 18″ wide. Pallet Chief developed this modification due to a customer request. “We work with customers to solve unique challenges and to modify our existing models to meet their needs. We can change the nailing configuration to accommodate different sizes if needed,” said Ogle.
The largest capacity design that Pallet Chief has developed so far is a machine capable of nailing a pallet that is 196″ long x 50″ wide.
