Bald is beautiful, especially when it goes to a great cause. For the second year in a row, Dominick Davi, the president and co-owner of Greenway Products and Services, has raised more than $12,500 to benefit St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on fighting childhood cancer and sponsoring research. The pallet industry played a major role in this effort helping Davi in his campaign.
Greenway is a pallet recycler in the New York City area, and Davi shaved his head as part of the fundraising effort. He said, “I have had tons of support from people in the industry. And it goes to a great cause to fight childhood cancer.”
This year Davi raised $12,605. Fighting cancer is personal for Davi. He explained, “The lady who raised me died of brain cancer, and she was a nursery school teacher, and I do it in her honor.”
Davi added, “I saw first-hand the impact of cancer, and it is horrible.”
Every year in the United States 300,000 children develop cancer, and only one in five survives. Besides getting people to donate, the head shaving event is a way to stand in solidarity with children who suffer cancer and lose their hair. Next to the U.S. government, St. Baldrick’s Foundation donates the second most amount of money each year for childhood cancer research.
Dominick Davi’s son, Sean, participated in the fundraiser this year and raised more than $2,700. The campaign is held in conjunction with St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Davi’s town. As a local Cub Scout leader, the local troop participates with some youngsters raising funds too. Davi added, “It’s a real fun event that brings our community together for a great cause.”
Davi thanked everyone in the industry who participated. More information can be found at https://tinyurl.com/myrm2mv
