Pallet Enterprise magazine will host a ground breaking audio conference for pallet suppliers on October 17, 2007.
The guest speaker for the conference will be Clarence Leising, a pallet industry veteran and recycling specialist. He will cover two topics of critical importance to the pallet industry – dispatching and transportation services as a source of new business for innovative companies and piece-rate pay plans for workers.
Every company wants to get in on the next big thing. Dispatching may be it as pallet users need help to handle trucking volumes, JIT demands, and challenges involved in maximizing the supply chain. If you’re hauling empty trailers, you are missing out on opportunities to put more money in your pocket.
Utilizing your trucks fully requires being innovative, talking with your customers about what they need and how you can help them, and thinking outside the box. Leising will explore proven strategies that have worked in the real-world. This audio conference may be just what your dispatcher and managers need to hear.
Another potential drain on your profits is missed production due to snags in your employee compensation strategy. Leising will cover ways to increase production, cut labor costs and improve worker morale through the piece-rate pay strategies. He will offer insights from his years of experience managing pallet recycling operations and visiting hundreds of operations as a sales representative and consultant for Eagle Metal Products.
The audio conference is being sponsored by Eagle Metal Products (www.palletplates.com), which supplies plates, platers and other equipment for assembling and repairing pallets and containers. Leising is a sales representative for Eagle.
Earlier in his career, Leising held management positions in pallet recycling companies in the Northeast for 25 years. He also has authored Pallet Head, a book about how to run a pallet recycling business. He also has been a contributing author to Pallet Enterprise, specializing in recycling topics, and
has been a speaker at trade association meetings.
Leising previously worked for Bronco Pallet Systems, which supplies semi-automated nailing equipment for pallet manufacturers and recyclers.
In his articles and his remarks, Leising draws heavily on his management experience in pallet recycling as well as the regular contact he has with pallet suppliers as a representative of Eagle Metal Products.
Leising will be joined by Dick Burns, his long-time friend and mentor in the pallet business. Burns is the owner of Western New York Pallet. Burns has had management responsibilities and performed truck dispatching functions in pallet recycling companies.
“We are delighted to have Clarence as our featured guest speaker for the upcoming October audio conference,” said Dr. Ed Brindley, publisher of Pallet Enterprise. “He is very knowledgeable about the nuts and bolts of pallet recycling, and company owners and managers can benefit from hearing what he has to say.”
Dr. Brindley added, “Conference participants will learn how to better utilize existing trucks and dispatching ability to foster new business development. Also, Clarence has helped many recyclers devise piece rate pay plans that increase production while controlling labor costs.”
Leising will deliver remarks during the first portion of the conference, then will be available to take questions from listeners and respond.
The October conference will be the first of several audio conferences planned later this year by Industrial Reporting, which publishes Pallet Enterprise.
Audio conferences offer a number of advantages over other forms of communication. Attendees can have as many people listen to the conference as can fit around a phone. This format allows for more people to be involved in training than would typically travel to a training session or conference. It does not require participants to leave the office or travel. There is time to interact with speakers via the Q&A session and post conference follow-up via the free online forum.
Audio conferences allow for specialized information to be delivered in a fast, efficient, cost effective manner. All registered participants receive via e-mail pre-conference materials covering the conference presentations, diagrams, speaker bios, etc. The day of the conference, registered participants call in using a password and login ID. The entire conference will last 90 minutes. All participants also receive an audio CD recording of the conference. Audio recordings give people the freedom to listen to the conference whenever they want. These CDs can also be passed around the office so that everyone within your organization gets a chance to listen.
Register before October 7, 2007 to get the best deal.
