Continuing its commitment to empowering communities, Cresswood Shredding Machinery, a major shredder and grinder supplier to the pallet industry, recently announced its Cresswood Cares initiatives for 2024.
A major focus for Cresswood is fostering a “servant mentality” in its management and teams. Once a month, Cresswood takes turns asking different departments if there is a local charity that they would like for the company to highlight and support. As an American-made company, Cresswood values local impact and outreach.
In January, Cresswood supported its furry friends by giving to Tails Humane Society, a local animal shelter. Cresswood explained, “Tails is an organization that is close to our hearts because many of our employees have rescued their pets from Tails or have rescued strays in the community. We are firm believers that pets are just as much a part of your family as the other members in your household.”
Cresswood’s engineering department chose to donate to Project Seth. This organization is committed to bringing more awareness to suicide, specifically among youth and young adults. Cresswood stated, “We are big advocates of mental health here at Cresswood and this organization is very important to us because a handful of our employees have experienced family or friends with mental health struggles. It is important for people to realize that they are not alone.”
The company’s fabrication shop and field service teams decided to partner up and support the family of a fallen sheriff officer in DeKalb County. DeKalb County Deputy Christina Musil was involved in a tragic accident while she was on duty and lost her life. The 35-year-old was a five-year sheriff’s office veteran and served in the Army National Guard as a military police officer for four years, including a tour in Afghanistan in 2008-2009. She left behind three young children.
Finally, Cresswood’s president, Ryan Butzman, stepped up and participated in “Just Shave It” in support of Cal’s Angels. Every dollar raised by this organization goes to fund pediatric cancer research, as only 4% of federal funding for cancer research is allocated to pediatrics. Members of the community were able to join Team Cal and sign up to shave Ryan’s head!
Butzman discussed Cresswood’s philanthropic efforts. He said, “At Cresswood, being an American-made industrial shredder manufacturer isn’t just about crafting quality equipment; it’s about embodying a spirit of generosity and compassion. Through our monthly donations and active involvement in local initiatives, we strive to make a meaningful impact on causes close to our hearts. Join us in our mission to empower and support those in need, as together, we shape a brighter future for all.”
