Industrial Reporting Reaches Milestone in Serving Pallet Industry

At the beginning of April, Industrial Reporting and I celebrated another milestone, our 25th anniversary of working with the pallet industry. It was 25 years ago that 11 pallet manufacturers gathered around a table at the Commonwealth Club in Richmond and expressed their desire to establish a weekly marketing report for the wooden pallet industry. Now celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Pallet Profile Weekly offers timely market information and news.
While the Profile’s format has changed considerably, our desires and goals have been consistent for 25 years. More than ever I am pledging to our readers that the Enterprise and Profile will continuously strive to provide up-to-date information from the honest perspective of people who love and understand the pallet industry and its people. We do not pretend to provide unbiased news coverage. That is not our job. It is our job to look at the world through the eyes of the industry.
Three family members — Carolyn, Scott and Chaille — have served by my side throughout the last 25 years. Other staff members have as many as ten years experience working with our industry; many have valuable previous work experiences in areas related to their current responsibilities. I am privileged to work with some of the most knowledgeable people serving our industry.
It has been a fantastic 25 years. Looking back at my meager beginning, never did I dream of having the publications and staff that we now have to serve you.
I am pleased that the Richmond Show is coming this May 17-18 at the NASCAR racetrack in Richmond, VA. The NWPCA/CWPCA’s Richmond Roundup and the Richmond Show combine to provide the best opportunity this year for networking with pallet friends, observing machinery and services, and learning more about strategies to deal with challenges and opportunities facing the industry. Come by our booth (# 632-634) for a chat. Our staff will be circulating around the grounds to see as many people as possible, but there will always be several of us at our booth to talk with you.
One of the biggest benefits of working so closely with an industry is that we understand how you feel. Our staff daily talks with pallet people, keeping our thumbs on the pulse of the industry.
Through the years, our company and products have changed to better serve you. The print edition of the Enterprise delivers information to your door step while our interactive Web site provides a growing number of FREE services and resources on a continous basis. From a searchable database of articles to special reports and sections to directories of suppliers, such as the Lumber Pages and the interactive Buyers’ Guide edition, our Web site continues to expand. The Pallet Board, our online forum, has become the cyber watercooler for the industry where leaders gather to talk about the latest news and seek advice. With new features on the way and growing traffic on the Pallet Board, www.palletenterprise.com has become a must visit destination on the Web for professionals in the industry.
In March our Internet sites continued their steady traffic growth. With more than 433,000 hits and 35,005 individual site sessions, traffic continues to rise as more people in the industry use the Web to communicate, research and market their products.
If you do not receive the Pallet Profile Weekly, you are missing the best kept secret in the industry. I am told by a growing number of pallet people that the Profile has become the weekly pallet news source, the most valuable publication for them. Call Jeff McBee at 804/550-0323 and discuss your pallet needs. Jeff can explain the Profile’s benefits.
Come by and see us in Richmond; it has been fantastic serving you over the past 25 years. We look forward to the next 25 years as the industry expands and tackles the future.
